New Year's Day 2002

Dear Family and Friends,
Well, since most of you are on our email list, you pretty much know how 2001 went.  We'll go ahead and sum it up anyway for the non-tech people.

Bret spent the first 5 months of 2001 finishing Intelligence School at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX.  He was able to drive home about every other weekend, though.  In May, our good friend Dr. Jodi got married to her boyfriend Tom.  Then Bret's mother, Mary, joined us after returning from a "5-month around-the-world tour" in time for Bret's graduation.
In June, Terri finished another year teaching 2nd grade at St. Laurence Catholic School in Sugar Land and taught another summer program for the 3rd year in a row.  Bret jumped right back into work at Ellington Field in southeast Houston.  The real fun began on June 29th.  First we took a 3 week, 5000-mile road trip around the central and eastern United States visiting family and friends in places like Hot Springs, St. Louis, New York, New Jersey, Savannah, and Disney World, just to name a few.  We got back to Houston in time to rest and repack for our safari in Africa.  If you missed the pictures the first time, be sure to check out our website.  Scott (Terri's brother) and John (who took us to Bora Bora and France last year), along with 5 other adults joined us as we spent 3 weeks in Tanzania and Kenya.  Unfortunately we had a 3 day layover in Amsterdam on the way back, which happened to fall on Bret's birthday.

When we got back to Houston again, we were busy preparing for Terri's grandparents' 60th anniversary party.  It was a big surprise and was a lot fun with lots of out of town family.  Oh, by this time, Terri would normally have been back at school teaching away.  Instead, she and her best friend Angela decided to turn their hobby of faux finishing into a business called "Faux du Jour".  They have been busy this fall with consultations and painting. In November, Terri was matron of honor in Angela's wedding.  After Africa, Bret went back to work at Ellington in the Intel shop.  After September 11th, he was activated and now works full time with them.

Our hobbies still include going to the movies, napping, and being very involved with the young adult ministry at church.  Bret designed the website for the group (www.sugaryams.com). Terri is also busy with play rehearsal for the local community theater.   The murder mystery will take place in February.  Our daughter, Abby (the tortoise-shell calico cat) is also doing well.  She will turn 5 in a couple months.

We hope this letter finds you in good health and happiness, and we hope you had a great holiday season and Happy New Year!

Love,
Terri and Bret Brogoitti
