Christmas 2002

Dear Family and Friends,

Well, usually most of you are on our email list and know what’s going on with us.  But this has been a busy year and Bret hasn’t updated the web page or sent out mass emails as often as usual.  So we'll go ahead and sum up our year for you.  Terri and her best friend, Angela, still have their faux finishing and decorative painting business “Faux du Jour”.  Although Terri misses teaching, she enjoys the flexible schedule and shorter hours of painting.  Bret still works for the Air Force at Ellington Field Air National Guard Base.

In January, Terri went with her parents to visit relatives in New Jersey.  In February, Terri acted in a murder mystery play with her mother Liz and Aunt Carol.  It ran for 5 weekends.  Terri’s brother Scott asked his girlfriend Lucy to marry him on Valentine’s Day.  In May, Terri and Angela spent a week in Amsterdam and Belgium.  They highly recommend seeing the little town of Brugge in Belgium.  Sadly, Terri’s grandfather in New Jersey passed away at the age of 88 years old.  Thank you for all your prayers you gave surrounding this time.  Terri joined her grandmother for a week upon return from Europe.

In June, Terri became involved in another play, Charlotte’s Web.  She also started taking karate classes.  She is now an orange belt.  Watch out!  In July, Terri went with her father, brothers and their significant others to Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite.  At the same time, Bret went to Las Vegas to be a “Man of Honor” for his friend Meredith who married Stan.  Mary, Bret’s mother, came to visit in the end of July.  In August, Bret left for San Angelo again for another training course.  Fortunately, it was for only 2 months this time.  Terri was able to visit Bret for a few days for his 33rd birthday before going with her parents to New Jersey again. Terri got a call while in NJ from Angela letting her know that she and Rick are expected their first child.  Congratulations!  In September, Terri met up with Mary in Bangkok, Thailand for a week.  They slept on a jungle raft on the River Kwai, rode an elephant, experienced Thai culture, and got tailor-made clothes.  Mary continued on to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Europe while Terri went back to Texas to welcome Bret home from San Angelo.

On October 12th, Scott and Lucy got married.  We had aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins from all over the U.S. come for the big event.  It was the best family reunion in years.  A couple weeks later, Bret left for another month long training deployment.  This time it was in boring, uneventful Las Vegas.  Mary stopped in Texas again on her way home from Europe.  Terri and Angela went to San Francisco to visit Judy, Angela’s sister-in-law, and celebrate their 28th birthdays.  Unfortunately, our 3rd anniversary happened during Bret’s stay in Vegas.  So Terri visited him for a few days and brought him back to Houston with her at the end of his course.  For Thanksgiving, we visited Andre and Glenda, Bret’s parents in Mt. Pleasant.  They have their own family reunion with 25+ people every Thanksgiving with the head of the family, Bret’s grandmother, Bea (who just turned 96 last month).  In December, we both were able to go to New Jersey.  This time we are also spent a night in New York City and saw “The Producers” and “Les Miserables.”

Our hobbies still include going to the movies, eating out, napping, and being very involved with the young adult ministry at church.  Bret designed the website for the group (www.sugaryams.com).  We joined a bowling league with Scott, Lucy, Robert, and Rachel.  We even have our own bowling balls, yet our average never really improved.  Bret was also on an indoor soccer league with Rachel and Robert.  Our daughter, Abby (the tortoise-shell calico cat) is also doing well.  She will turn 6 in a couple months.

We hope this letter finds you in good health and happiness, and we hope you have a great holiday season and Happy New Year!

Love,

Terri and Bret Brogoitti
