Terri
& Bret went to Hawaii again to vacation with Bret's Mother, Mary, and
her friend Carolyn, visiting Oahu and the Big Island. It
was a relaxing 10 day vacation enjoying the tropical moderate temperature
and sounds of waves crashing on the beach.

This age old
Japanese Temple is a tourist hot-spot on the leeward side of
Oahu. For luck, you can ring a huge cast iron-bell with this huge
log on a rope and feed the goldfish the size of small whales.

If you
are going to live the rest of eternity in one spot, you might as well
have one with a great view.

You
can just make out the ocean. Hope they bury you with spectacles.

We
rented a two bedroom cottage at Bellows AFS on the Eastern side of
Oahu. Our back porch was just 30yds from the beach. We
slept with the windows open every night and fell asleep to the
crashing waves all night long.

It
wouldn't be a trip to Hawaii without a visit to the famous Honolulu
Waikiki Beach with Diamondhead in the background.

Mary
was desperately looking for the elusive "Shrimp Truck" and
was delighted when we finally found it.

It
wouldn't be a trip to ... ok enough of that. However, we did
visit the Polynesian Cultural Center where they display the
"Culture" of a half-dozen or more islands of the Pacific hemisphere.
This facility is run by the Church of Latter Day Saints and sometimes
you feel that it's students have that "I am a member of a
cult" feel. The grounds were entertaining and the employees
and student actors were very, very nice. You should go at least
once. But the luau is way over-priced there.

While
driving around the Marine Corp Base Hawaii located at Kaneohe Bay on
Oahu, we came across a model plane fly-off over at an unused tarmac on
the airfield. Some of these were scale replicas jet models of
F-15, F-18, and the new F-22. It was cool watching these things
fly around. But some of the "RC Pilots" crashed and
smashed their planes on landing.

Although sunk by a Japanese dive bomber almost 65 years ago, the
